One good kiss deserves another.....right?

I happen to think there's not much cuter than a boy and his dog but even a great thing can go too far! Yesterday I walked into the kitchen just in time to witness Kaden taking a big lick to the top of Max's head. Kaden explained to me that Max had given him a "lick kiss" and he thought Max would like one in return. This conversation obviously took place AFTER my horrible, wretching scream which traumatized Kaden for a good 5 minutes! (don't pretend you wouldn't have made the same sound!)

Hounds of Hell and a Jail Break!

Friday morning I heard the girls calling from the backyard. When I went out to check on them this is what I found....Yes, that is a Rottweiler (aka Spawn of Satan, Dog of the Devil, Who Would Buy One of These, etc.) attempting to come through our fence and his little chicken nugget snack friend actually making it! Luckily, since I'm particularly fond of my children, my legs and my life, the neighbors are on board with our plans to redo that particular section of the fence!

Snakes and Snails and Puppy Dog Tails.....

With the girls spending so much time outside with their friends this summer Kaden and I have had - and will continue to have now that both girls are in school full time - a lot of time together. What a fun little guy to spend the day with. This summer we've learned some things....

Our new yard has LOADS of frogs, salamanders, grasshoppers, snakes and other interesting creatures that are just calling out to be captured...

even though we think something is incredibly funny - like our big sisters dressing us up like the flower princess - Dad definitely does not see as much humor.....painting and hammering together our very own monster truck is a great way to spend an afternoon.....
Even when you're feeling grumpy and just want to be left alone it's still pretty cool to find out that at this very moment in time your little body is the EXACT same size as a stair...

I think he's a keeper!

The best laid plans......

Obviously the weekly update plan has not materialized well! We're not up to normal blogging status yet but I'd say 2 months is an improvement over a year so STOP COMPLAINING! Although, I'd rather complaining than cheering .....

Anyway, I'm always amazed at how fast the summer flies by and how incredibly busy we manage to be even though we haven't had any great plans this year. We've stayed close to home and spent a lot of time working on things around the house. It's been lots of fun - and a tiny bit overwhelming - learning to be homeowners but things are turning out great and we're really enjoying our new home and neighborhood.

The girlies got to take a trip with Nani and Grandpa this year. They went to Idaho and Utah for a week. I'm pretty sure they thought they'd died and gone to Heaven! Other than spending time at Grandma Gibson's house - where reside real live breathing horses! - they got to spend time getting to know their extended family, visiting Temple Square, haunting around Provo and, in general, having an amazing time. Besides being incredibly jealous of all the fun they were having and a bit nostalgic over all the memories these photos stirred up, I have to say I am incredibly grateful to Mom and Dad for giving them this opportunity. It makes my heart smile to see them building relationships with their great-grandparents and making wonderful memories of their own in the places that are so close to my heart. Who knew that a picture of your kids playing in ditch water could bring tears to your eyes!!

The other great thing that is new this summer is having my brother, Matt, and his family living closer. They moved up to Vancouver from Beaverton, Oregon this year and we are having such a great time playing with them whenever we want! Andrea and I have conspired together and are now the "couple" on a zoo pass and an OMSI pass and there are lots of field trip plans in the making!

So, there's a glimpse into summer at the Poston household. Any and all of you are more than welcome to come on up and try it out for yourselves!! (Offer not limited to Poston summers....we're also fun to visit in the Fall, Spring and Winter.....) :)
